Another very nice summer-like day. Tonight the weather is changing rapidly. We have a brisk wind and the temperature has dropped to 51 degrees and I think it is still falling. Woody is excited to be outside these nice evenings. We have been letting him out more this spring because he seems to be hanging out close to the house rather than meandering out into the woods like he used to. When we call him, he comes running, so we are giving him extra privileges - sort of like you reward your children for good behavior.
We hope he's smart enough not to get into serious trouble.
A few days ago I think I mentioned here that I got my days mixed up and was surprised when I actually had an extra day I hadn't expected. This past week it worked the other way - I completely lost a day someplace. I thought it was still Wednesday when it was actually Thursday. Fred said it was time to fix this, so when we were in Littleton Friday, we stopped at Walmart and I got a super big watch with the day and date on it as well as nice big numbers that I can read right down to the seconds - without my reading glasses! It's not glamorous or even good looking, but it sure fits the bill perfectly. It was very hard getting it set - it has buttons to press two times, then another four times - that sort of thing (it's digital). The problem is, the little folder with instructions has such small print, I need a magnifying glass to read it even with my glasses on. I don't think anyone could read it comfortably without magnification. So now I have absolutely no excuse for not knowing what day it is and what the date is. Problem solved. Now if it could only keep track of my cell phone and car keys . . .
We were very sorry to learn of the passing of Steve Burgess, Nancy Burgess's husband, this past week. Steve and Nancy became year around residents on Cove Road only a few years ago when they took down the cottage that had been in Nancy's family for many years (the Amidons) and built a lovely new home on the lot.  Those of you who wish to send Nancy and her family condolences can send them to P. O. Box 245, Danville, VT 05828. Our thoughts and heartfelt sympathy go out to all the family. Steve will be sadly missed.

We have a nice fresh coating of snow in preparation for Santa's arrival. Our temperature remained in the teens most of today and is now...
