Such a pretty day today. There was plenty of sunshine, but the temperature was cool so not too much melting went on. We still have a skimming of snow on the hills around West Danville, but Danville and other lower elevations have hardly any. The pond was pretty well frozen over when I went to my meeting at the Danville Historical Society site today. The first pond has snow on the ice and has been frozen over for a few days, the middle and upper pond don't seem to have as much snow on the ice, but the surface was like glass today, so I'm pretty sure it was nearly solidly frozen from shore to shore. Not that it will remain - it's only a skimming, and rain is in the forecast for tomorrow, so that will do it in, probably. Then another cold spell to freeze things up again. We are also expecting high winds tomorrow.
It's actually very quiet around the pond, at least at our end. There's some building activity going on at Talbot's, and I expect at the Crosby's, too, but we haven't been over that way. Perhaps we'll take a ride around the pond to see what's happening and take some pictures to post here.
"Vermont Wild - Adventures of Vermont Fish & Game Wardens" new edition is out and can be found at local book stores. Our neighbor, Walt Achermann tells a story or two, also Ken Denton who is well known in our are area. These stories are in Vol. 4, but editions look as if they'd be a great read. Good stocking stuffers, maybe?
