We've just heard there is to be another meeting about allowing ATVs on public roads in Cabot.  According to our source, the meeting will be tomorrow evening (Thursday, July 19) at the Willey Building, at 7 p.m.  This is apparently the last chance anyone will have to voice an opinion before the Cabot Select Board makes their decision. According to information in the Hardwick Gazette, last week, there was a great deal of support for the proposal at the hearing held on July 5th.  The measure "effectively opens all roads in town except Route 2, a class one state highway," to ATV use.  There would be a 25 mph speed limit and operation from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., and several other restrictions.  At last week's board meeting, citizens voiced concerns about enforcement, and  it was noted that Walden has had to raise taxes in order to cover the cost of sheriff's patrol due to ATV issues.  The board postponed voting last week, indicating they would make some changes to include some of the suggestions that were offered, but board member Brigitte Codling said the board "will possibly adopt the ordinance at the next regular meeting," which is this Thursday, July 19.
Here's the agenda for the meeting:

1.  Approve minutes of June 7, June 22 and July 5, 2012;
Approve Public Hearing minutes of July 5, 2012.
