The day was beautiful here again, but I missed most of it by having cataract surgery. A sure sign of getting to be an old timer, I admit, but I'm also looking forward to seeing things more clearly - like threading a needle, not misreading fine print or appointment times written on my calendar, and especially the pot-holes on West Shore Road.

Fred had a few hours to kill, so he explored some back roads and took some pictures. I'm not sure where he came across this fellow, but the squirrel was probably taking advantage of such a nice day to gather more food for his winter stash. Wise move.

Then he took a ride up to the late Stephen Huneck's Dog
Mountain. I think we drove up a long time ago, but I've never explored the place. Our son, Bob, takes his dog, Casey to visit regularly. I don't know if Jamie and Marie have taken Otto there or not. Dogs love it, I'm told, and people do, too.

In spite of being a little late getting to the operating room, I was finished earlier than expected, but Fred had anticipated that might happen and was back to pick me up. He had ordered from Subway so we picked up our lunch and were each enjoying our half a "Foot Long" at home shortly after noon.

Coming through Danville, Fred snapped a few more pictures, but I'm o
nly posting one as it seems to me nothing much changes, at least in looking at the mess. I think they are finally getting to paving through town, hoping to have it done before another snow storm. There's still a lot to do, and nearly every day there are breaks in water lines, unexpected ledges to blast through, or some other delay. I had several notices from Ms. Perkins when I got home, but some were only pertinent to the morning, so I didn't post them.

I have an early morning appointment with Dr. Phipps tomorrow to check how my eye is doing. I'm not sure when I'll be able to shed the plastic guard, but it would be nice to graduate to regular glasses. I now have a permanent lens implanted in the eye he worked on today, and my regular soft contact lens in the other eye I will have done later. Right now reading my newspaper is difficult, but I have non-prescription magnifying glasses I wear when working on the computer, so I may be reading my news on-line for a while.

Another Adventure

This week turned out to be a doozie for me. I had anticipated going for a follow-up on my knee on Monday, but instead ended up in the ER at ...
