We picked up the mail as we headed out this afternoon to pick up some supplies. One of the headlines in the newspaper was "Traffic Delays Continue in Danville." We both groaned, and since we were headed towards Peacham, we decided to use Keiser Pond Road instead of going the usual route through Danville and risking a long delay. We came back through St. Johnsbury and thought since it was not yet 5:30 and they would be working until 6, we'd find out just how long the wait is.

By the time we were approaching Dole Hill, we were in a pretty significant electrical storm. At the top of Dole Hill, traffic slowed, and while east bound traffic seemed to be moving at a fairly normal speed, our west bound lane barely crept along. We never had to actually stop for more than a minute or two, but it took all of ten minutes to get from Dole Hill to the west side of Danville Village. Turned out the road crews had left early, probably because of the rain storm, and apparently the slow moving traffic was just because drivers were being cautious going through the work area - and traffic was really heavy. This is what it looked like from about in front of the Beattie Farm. If there are some longer than anticipated delays, it's probably because of the increased traffic with visitors trying to get in a few days of vacation before the kids go back to school. We couldn't complain - at least we were able to keep moving.

When we got to West Shore Road, pictured at right, it was still raining
pretty hard and the ditches were full of water. The end of our driveway suffered a little from water rushing over it, but the rain subsided soon after we arrived home.

We're all hoping for good weather for Danville Fair, starting Friday night through Saturday. Saturday is also Cabot's Alumni Day, so of course it would be nice to have good weather for that, too. We won't be able to get to the fair until evening, but I'm looking forward to some "fair food" and listening to son Bob who will be playing with the BelAires - a gig he always looks forward to, and one we never miss. So it's fair time and summer is nearly over. Who the heck put summer in fast forward, anyway?

Be sure to take a look at the information and poster below.

This week turned out to be a doozie for me. I had anticipated going for a follow-up on my knee on Monday, but instead ended up in the ER at ...
