We met our new granddaughter, Tangeni Seirra Dimick this afternoon. She is every bit as sweet and perfect as her daddy said she was. She put up with being passed from grandma to her sister to another grandma several times, without a whimper, barely waking as she adjusted to unfamiliar arms and voices spilling English and Oshiwambo words at her. We were not only impressed with her excellent behavior, but also her extraordinary good looks. She has a shock of silky straight dark hair, rosy cheeks, and a firm grip with those tiny fingers. Actually, she's not tiny at all, as newborns go; at a birth weight of 10 lbs. 7 oz., she's already outgrown some of her baby clothes.

In the top picture, I'm holding her. Her Grandma Floriana (next picture) was almost as excited to see her as her big sister, Jo-Ann was (bottom picture). They are both anxious to get her home. Mommy Monika is doing fine, and expects they will be able to leave the hospital on Friday.

They are at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center. After many hours in labor, the doctors decided on a C-section, which of course resulted in a longer than normal stay in the hospital. Daddy Bill is staying with them. The room is set up purposely for families to be together, unlike the way things were a few years ago, and I expect still are in some hospitals. Nurses come and go, but the baby remains in the
room with the parents. Visitors are definitely allowed, and the system seems to work very well. Bill is able to help Monika and at the same time is learning about caring for the baby. Monika says Tangeni hardly every cries, and I expect when she does, she gets immediate attention. As she should.

We are very proud of our little granddaughter. She is going to be just as sweet as her big sister. We can't wait to introduce her to Joe's Pond, rock music, skiing at Burke Mountain and basketball.

When we arrived home this evening, we had a call from Don Sherwood saying they found the owner of the surf board. Good work, Don!
