Below is another revised update for Route 2 Project, Danville FEGC 028-3(32) which includes a blasting schedule:
Week of July 11th, 2011

Pike Industries will be performing the following work on the Danville Route 2 project as follows:

Blasting: Crews will start blasting on Park Street Tuesday and continue through the week. The blasting zone will begin across from the Post Office and continue towards Smith Street. If time allows, crews will then mobilize the blasting operation to Route 2. More details will follow mid week.

Blasting Schedule (Tentative): 10am, 1pm and 3 pm each work day until further notice. Scheduled times are subject to change.

Blasting Signals: Crews will sound a horn as follows:

Pre-Blast - 3 consecutive signals – 5 minute warning

2 consecutive signals – 1 minute warning

Post Blast - 1 signal – all clear to enter the blast zone

Blasting Traffic Control - Traffic within the blasting area will be held for 5 minutes before the actual blast and then continue to be held post blast until the roadway is cleared of debris and rebuilt for safe passage. Each blast will bring different results so the wait time after blasting is unknown at this time. Crews will work to keep post blast hold times as short as possible.

Traffic delays can be expected in and around the project for the entire week. Traffic control will be present to maintain traffic flow at all times. Motorists are encouraged to plan accordingly.

From what I can tell by looking at a map, Smith Street is a short street on the eastern side of the Green and runs parallel to Brainerd from Route 2. Hopefully there won't be too many really big blasts. I'm meeting a friend for lunch at the Danville Inn tomorrow - it should be an interesting introduction to Danville for her.

It's been way too hot for me today, and I know I'm going to suffer tomorrow, but after the slow, cool, rainy spring weather and all the cold and snow of last winter, I'm going to keep quiet about the heat. I just checked the thermometer outside my office window where the sun is still shining on it, and it's reading 98 degrees. I suspect it was higher earlier in the afternoon. On our thermometer that's out of the sun I'm getting a reading of 82 degrees. Not so bad.

Fred has been doing maintenance work on our wood stove so it will be ready when we need it, and he's waiting impatiently for wood to be delivered for the 2012-13 season. Most of our 2011-12 wood is stacked in the garage already, but there is a little more to bring in, and he needs to make room for the new where he stacks it to dry for a year before it's ready to bring in and burn. Heating with wood is labor intensive, no matter how well you plan. It's always a good feeling to have the garage full of wood when the first snowflakes begin to fall.
