Jack LaGue just corrected me that the picture I posted yesterday was not between Parizo's and his place, but is actually between Parizo's and Ricker's. Thanks, Jack, for correcting me on that.

Homer Fitts asked about what kind of fish have been or are scheduled to be stocked here by the state. I found this web site:
Stocking at Joe's Pond

I've also had a couple of questions about the loons - whether they are nesting this year or have been discouraged by the high water. I've sent an e-mail to Evelyn Richer and will report as soon as I hear back from her.

I just came back from a meeting in Cabot. The road over the Plain is surprisingly good, considering the severe washouts on some of the other roads in town. The ditches have been washed considerably, but the road is fine as long as you watch where your wheels are and are careful when meeting a car. In the Village, things are pretty dusty but traffic is moving and businesses are operating. I didn't go to the hardware store, but Searle's grocery store was fine. There's still a huge hole by the hardware store - that is going to take major reconstruction.

The treasurer of our Cabot Historical Society, Bla
nche Lamore, just celebrated her 99th birthday this past week. We celebrated with her at the annual meeting today. President Bonnie Dannenberg brought a beautiful cake and we enjoyed a nice potluck lunch before cake and ice cream. Blanche is unflappable and took it all in stride. She was busy reading some report when I snapped this. It was a good meeting and Blanche is set to serve another year as treasurer. She commented that "you really should know how to use a computer" these days, but for now she'll stick to the old method of keeping track in her little notebook.
