FREE AND OPEN TO ALL HOUSEHOLDS IN CABOT, MARSHFIELD AND OTHER TOWNS IN THE NORTHEAST KINGDOM WASTE MANAGEMENT DISTRICT

We all have them in our homes, basements, barns and garages those nasty substances we know we shouldn’t throw in the trash or flush down the toilet. These consumer products contain ingredients that may be:

TOXIC – poisonous if eaten, inhaled or absorbed through the skin

CORROSIVE – can burn or destroy living tissue if spilled

REACTIVE – ignites, burns or explodes if mixed with other materials

EXPLOSIVE – can explode with exposure to hear

FLAMMABLE/IGNITABLE – can easily be set on fire

To determine if a product is hazardous, check the label for the words:

DANGER – substance may be flammable, corrosive or toxic

POISON – substance is toxic

CAUTION/WARNING – substance is hazardous

NOT ALL HAZARDOUS SUBSTANCES ARE ACCEPTABLE FOR COLLECTION

Please do NOT bring:

ALKALINE BATTERIES – you can dispose of these in the trash

ASBESTOS

PRESCRIPTION MEDICATION OR INFECTIOUS WASTE

EXPLOSIVES SUCH AS GUNPOWER, AMMUNITION AND FLARES

RADIOACTIVE WASTE, INCLUDING SMOKE DETECTORS

UNKNOWN GAS CYLINDERS

EMPTY CONTAINERS

LATEX PAINT – just dry out the containers and put them in the trash
