I seem to be way behind in getting things done, but actually I've been able to get quite a number of things attended to - it's just that I didn't make time to sit down to update the blog.

JPA dues are coming in and along with them there are always changes to things like addresses - regular and e-mail, and then there are the notes, calls or e-mails letting me know of errors in the newsletter that just came out. Case in point: one of our new property owners on the pond questioned the date of the August meeting, and rightly so. I had it in the newsletter as August 29, which is a Monday - and that is wrong; it should be August 20. It is correct on the website (Fred is a better typist than I am), but if you clip the Events Schedule in the newsletter, be sure you change that date. We'd hate for you to miss the meeting and show up on the 29th.

Speaking of errors in dates, the talent show that Cabot School is putting on and that I mentioned on the blog a while back, is going to be on May 30th, which IS a Monday. The original announcement had May 20th as the date (which I had nothing to do with!) Here is the corrected blurb I just received:

THE WORLDS BEST TALENT SHOW

COULD CABOT BE AS STAR STUDDED AS HOLLYWOOD? WELL YOU CAN
FIND OUT AT THE FIRST ANNUAL CABOT SCHOOL PERFORMING ARTS
CENTER TALENT SHOW.

This year on May 30th the 1st annual Cabot “Worlds best talent show” lands in our little town of Cabot, and you’ll be happy it did. How old are you? Well it doesn’t matter because people of all ages can enter and there will be 3 different age groups 5-15 years of age 15-25 years and 25 and up. There will also be a cash prize for each category and the amount of money you win is determined by how many people attend so bring your friends and family, if you have a talent we want to see it. To register you can either go to: Registration Form or you can go to the Performing Arts Center located behind the Cabot High School. The talent show is open to residents of Cabot and the surrounding areas (Walden, Hardwick, Plainfield, and Marshfield). We will provide the bottom line (mike, amps, and
other small equipment) for participants. If you will need any assistance with your act then we can provide 1 or 2 stage crew members.

Yesterday I noticed the LaPrades had apparently just arrived back from their winter digs, also the Bertrands were just unpacking. They couldn't have picked a nicer day to arrive back, unlike when the Andersons got here sometime last week and there was snow in the air.

I haven't heard from anyone who has arrived back to find either high water or ice damage, but I had occasion to stop at the Gagne's on Sandy Beach Road and their sea wall took a hit from the ice. I think most of the ice damage will be on the western shoreline because of the high winds we had around the 27th and 28th of April that also disconnected the Ice-Out clock.

I also stopped at Larry and Carol Byrd's and Larry was telling me they watch a very large and beautiful adult bald eagle fly up the pond, swing over the islands and returned heading south down the pond. Larry said it was unmistakeable, even without binoculars, which he also used to be absolutely certain.

In West Danville, the church folks are happily welcoming back Carol Borland as their interim pastor. Carol was pastor for a number of years, but retired to the farm she and her husband operate. However, she says she's happy to be back and able to serve at the West Danville church once again. They have a very nice website which we have linked to - West Danville Church

Further down the road, in Danville, reconstruction through the Village of Danville will kick off Monday. According to today's Caledonian Record, traffic delays should be no more than 10 minutes, but some businesses will have parking disrupted, but work will be hastened to relieve the impact as much as possible and as quickly as possible. The newspaper reported there will be long work days, probably from 6 a.m. to as late as 9 p.m., but generally not on weekends, and the heavy construction will not begin until next year. Work is expected to continue seasonally until 2014. There is a website set up for you to keep track of the work in progress: www.roadworkupdates.com
