I distributed some posters about the Apple Pie Festival coming on the 16th. I left one off at the Welcome Center which used to be the railroad station in St. Johnsbury. It's been renovated into a very nice space on the ground floor for pamphlet and information racks and has some fine artifacts on display. I didn't stop to look around much, but it's certainly a pleasant spot. There are offices on the second floor.I put posters in several other places and would have put one on the bulletin board at the Danville town offices, but the whole front porch is gone and the big pillars are being held up by big supports and jackscrews so a whole new porch, steps and ramp can be installed. It's supposed to be finished by the end of the week.
This afternoon I had to go to Cabot to the library. While I was there I took a picture of the and stopped to see friend to give her the Dorothy Sucher book, "The Invisible Garden," and by the time I got home it was raining fairly hard, so there was no chance of getting any outside work done.
9:41 a.m. Thursday -
I suddenly realized last night it was time for "The Defenders" on TV, so I left this and rushed to watch. I like to watch some of the new shows each year and make my predictions as to whether they'll last or not. I've liked "The Defenders" so far, and I also like "#@!& My Father Said." I've watched "Mike and Molly" but haven't warmed to that much; can't bring myself to watch the new version of "Hawaii Five-O" - didn't like the original much, so no interest in this one, I guess. I dearly love Tom Selleck in movies, but so far I haven't much enthusiasm for the new "Blue Bloods." I'll still watch for a while, but I worry it may not develop into the big hit. I always look forward to Selleck's "Jessie Stone" made-for-TV mystery movies. My favorite TV shows are still "NCIS," "Big Bang Theory" and "The Mentalist." Those three intrigue me in different ways: serious, silly and just plain weird. If I think about it, all three kind of have that same combination.
Today I need to get busy and catch up on historical stuff. With the cat lazing around in something of a haze due to the pain killer and antibiotics he got yesterday, we don't have to keep answering his knocks at the door so without interruptions, I can get quite a bit done. Better get at it!
