We had a decent white frost last night. It warmed up nicely during the day, but now the sun is going down, the temperature is dropping pretty rapidly. We got all of our garden stuff in yesterday and Fred is breathing a big sigh of relief that Harry brought the snow blower back. We have Harry service it every fall and sometimes we wait a bit too long and we have some snow before it gets back - but we've never needed the snow blower - so far.

We met Ray Rouleau as we were starting off on our walk. He was headed for the Cemetery on Cabot Plain - a long walk, but he said he does it several times each year. It was a nice day to go there - the view would be spectacular. Right now there are clouds coming out of the west and it looks as if we've lost our day.

I don't know if you can tell, but the carpenters have the decking on for the second floor at the Gagne's home on Sandy Beach Road. I believe they can only go up as high as the highest next-door neighbor, according to the Town of Cabot's zoning rules for Joe's Pond. I don't know if the Parizo's have a full second story or if it's considered a half story.

Next we found Butch Bouchard putting his recycled pontoon/deck/dock away. Great use of old pontoons and way better than putting them in some junk pile or leaving them to deteriorate in the bushes someplace. It's hard to know what to do with some of our summer toys when they begin to wear out.

Butch had his best friend, Jeffrey, with him. Jeffrey was a rescue dog from out west. He's sure a cute little guy - looks as if he has some Pomeranian in him. Well worth saving, I'd say.

Back home, Fred showed me some skat below the crab apple tree - we don't know exactly what animal left it, but it was sort of like a cow's, but certainly not like a deer, bear or moose unless the poor thing had had a really bad meal. It looked like something had bedded down under the tree, too.

We could see there was snow on top of a mountain in the
presidential range. This is probably Mt. Washington, but I couldn't say for sure.

Catching Up

As our lovely autumn days begin to turn a bit chill and dreary - the transition from October to November is like that  - I want to share so...
