In my excitement I misspoke - that would be 5000 riders, and the fund is administered for the kids benefitted by the Jimmy Fund.

That $31 million figure is astonishing, and so is the $4200 figure. As is well known, Red Sox fund raising activities also contribute much to the Jimmy Fund.
