We're looking at an "off and on" day again, I think. Perhaps as the day moves on we'll have more sun than not, but for the time being, it seems to come and go - a lot!
And we had our usual dose of rain overnight - I measured .16 in. this morning. It was pretty chilly last night and even now is still only in the upper 50's, but when the sun is out, it warms quickly. The forecast is for 80's over the weekend, which will be great for people who want to get out to watch parades or be on the water.

We had an announcement of a lost cat yesterday. It came as a comment, but just in case some of you missed it, here is the information:

Lost: Gray and white tiger cat with white paws in the vicinity of Brown Road at Joe's Pond. If found please call Molly Burger at 684-1233.

We sure hope Molly's cat is found. I know how much we worry when Woody is away too long. Cats are funny, though. Sometimes they just go off for a few days - I guess it's like taking a vacation is for humans. We had a cat who followed us on our walk one evening and was gone for a couple of days. We finally found her in a culvert way up the road where we'd walked and we figured something had frightened her and she hid there. I don't know how long she would have stayed there, but we coaxed her out and she was really happy to get back home. On the other hand, Woody was out all one summer when he ran away from home several years ago and that's how we came to have him. We saw him off and on over the summer and thought he was a stray, so when it got cold that fall, we "captured" what we thought might be a pretty wild cat, but what we got was a real people cat, hungry for attention. We later found out he left his old home because he didn't like the other cats in the family. We thought we sort of rescued him, but as we look back on it, perhaps he actually targeted us once he found out we didn't have any other cats in the house . . . Now he has it pretty good with his own kitty door so he can come and go mostly as he pleases. Except for regularly bringing mouse and squirrel playmates into the house to meet us, he's pretty near perfect, as cats go.

One of our neighbors had a cat that came to her in the fall, left in the spring and went back to his former home somewhere here at the pond, and believe it or not - the next fall showed up at our neighbor's again to spend the winter. She lived a couple of miles from his other "home," and that spring she didn't let him out of the house, so he had to spend the summer with her. He wasn't happy, but she said "enough is enough," because she would have worried about him all the time he was gone, wondering if he was ok.

Anyway, I hope Molly's cat comes home ok or has found temporary shelter someplace where someone will rescue him/her.

We've just had another short shower. Farmers must be really frustrated trying to get hay in.
