One more hot day and then maybe some relief over the weekend. When I made my CoCoRaHS (we call it "coco-ross") report this morning, my measuring tube was completely dry - not even condensation; however, the maps show that many surrounding areas just north and west of us had a little precipitation in the past 24 hours. I saw a couple flashes of lightning last night around 11 o'clock or midnight, but didn't hear thunder and we certainly didn't get any rain. It could be a good old thunder-boomer when we do get something, though.

I happened on this Times-Argus article this morning. Moose Hunting Permits
I saw Cedric Alexander, quoted in this article, on Sunday during the Fourth celebration in Cabot, and we were talking about the moose population. Cedric is from Cabot and is also a supporter of our historical society. He told me that the wild life in this area is thriving and in very good health. I told him we pretty much know that here at Joe's Pond, having seen plenty of really healthy looking deer, moose, bears, turkeys and more this spring. Seems as if Cedric is right when he credits the state's wildlife control policies with the successful comeback of our wildlife. There was a time when seeing any of these animals was an exciting event here, but now not so much and so far we haven't been over run with anything, either.

We are sorry to learn of the death Monday of Cathy Systo's grandmother, Irene Colombo. Irene E. Colombo
Our sincere sympathy to Cathy and her family.

We were also saddened to learn yesterday of the death of Terry and Dick Larrabee's grandson, Dylan Dunbar. Our heartfelt sympathy to that family, as well. Dylan E. Dunbar

It was very sad to learn of the passing of Mary Prior in Danville last week. She will be sadly missed by her loving family and many friends. We extend condolences to them. Mary Langmaid Prior
