Not much happening today. It's been rainy off and on with a rumble of thunder every now and then. I went to Cabot this afternoon to meet with Marvie Domey about some mapping problems at the Plains Cemetery which we think we may be on the verge of solving. I noticed on the way that there is new fencing where the cattle were in the pasture beyond us, so perhaps we'll have some back there again before the summer is over. I think they were moved onto the Plain last year so we didn't hear them bawling whenever anyone went by and paid attention to them. The fencing is up where they were last year, too, but I didn't see any cattle when I went by today. Looks as if they'd have plenty of good feed in either pasture.

Speaking of good feed - we had our potatoes and peas tonight and it was as good as I'd been hoping. My peas are just beginning to be ready to pick and the vines are very heavy. I pruned the tomato plants yesterday and now I worry I over did it. I never know when to stop once I get started pruning anything.

I had a notice come in my email today about a parent-teacher "mixer" planned at Cabot School soon. That's so parents and teachers new to the school can get to know each other a little before the school year commences. I think that's a really nice idea; but it reinforces my theory that summer is nearly over. Darn it. And then I got the updated information on the annual Apple Pie Festival which is always in October - the 16th this year - so time is flying by, for sure.

Which reminds me - the Rossi's robin family has left. They left sometime on Saturday, Diane said. Bill and Diane were away and when they returned home, their birds were gone. Fred said Bill is showing signs of empty nest syndrome . . . just a pile of twigs and feathers on their security lights now.

Fred and Bill went to Marty's this afternoon to pick up some hamburg. One of Fred's cousins is coming for lunch tomorrow and we decided to have a cook-out. Fred took a few pictures - one of the gas p
rices, which is something he often does although I'm not sure why. Then there was one of a satellite dish - that was interesting; but the one I found most interesting was this one of the outside of Marty's store - not a soul in sight in the middle of the afternoon. You don't often see that at Marty's! I'm glad to know the folks who work there get a breather once in a while, though. Every time we go there it always seems very busy and we usually see at least one or two folks we know. It was between rush hours this afternoon, I guess.

Time Change and A Little History

This has been a chilly, rather dull day. Having to set the clocks back last night made everything a bit topsy-turvey today, I suppose, but ...
