Our berries are very early this season and I'm sure Vermonters will be picking earlier than the 4th of July this year...My Strawberry Jam operation is under way, Lauren and I picked on Wed. and I made 25 jars of jam...of course we had a few banana/strawberry smoothies while working.
Today I'm heading out to pick from my aunt's garden and hope to make another 25 jars this weekend. Next Weekend 6/11-6/15, John and I will be in Cabot working will mow lawns and spring-clean.
John and I will be leaving on Tues the 22nd of June to LaPorte, IN to the 2010 Red Power Round-up (International Tractor Show). We are staying in Michigan City near the Indiana border of lake Michigan. Will visit friends in upstate NY and will be meeting friends at the tractor show in Indiana. Liz
Isn't that jam a beautiful color? Sounds like John and Liz will be having a lot of fun at the tractor show. I remember we had photos last year when they went. John does love his tractors!
I had a call from my cousin in northern Maine this week that her husband had passed away. I'd tried to reach her by e-mail just before that and wondered why she hadn't responded. The were back at the Cleveland Clinic where Druss was getting treatments for his cancer of the spine. While there he suffered a stroke, and although he survived that, he was very weak. He arrived back home in Maine on Sunday and passed away on Wednesday. Perhaps some of you will remember Druss Coffin. He grew up in Barre. Here is the obit: Charles Drussel Coffin obit
My cousin, Polly, grew up here in Cabot, first living with her parents, William and Pauline (Barnett) Bolton in Cabot Village and then moving with them to the farm on the Plain. She has a sister, Bonnie (Bolton) Baharian and brothers Bill and Tim. None of them live in this area now. Pauline is in a nursing home near Stockholm, Maine where Polly lives, Bonnie and Tim both live in Massachusetts and Bill lives in Georgia. All have grown children and families in other parts of the nation.
Fred is off to recycle today. We're out of sync on that, too. Usually he goes every third Wednesday, but this week our neighbor didn't have hers ready and we had appointments that interfered on other days, so he went today. I am trying to finish to take things back to the historical society. Bonnie usually has it open on Sundays in June, so need to get cracking.

It's always funny to see photos of the jam because they're not actually fluorescent pink in reality. They're a darker red color but because of the flash or lighting they always seem to look hot pink.
Hello!
Does anyone know if the late Mr. Coffin taught at the Hanover, NH elementary school? It would have been in the 1964-5 school year that I had a teacher by that name.
Thanks very much,
-Richard
