Good white morning! This is what we woke up to today. I measured 3.5 in. of snow - very wet and heavy. The temperature is about 33 degrees and it's still snowing lightly. It will probably turn to rain later this morning and that will wash it all away - into the already brimming pond. I will try to get down to Walter Ruf's to measure the water level sometime today. There isn't anything we can do about it - this is the time of year when we expect lots of rain and snow.

The picture above is my rain gauge - measuring snow at the moment. Precipitation in the snow in the tube was .45 in. I took the pictures below looking down at the pond past Randall's. Looks like Christmas to me. Th
e second one is what I saw when I looked out my bedroom window first thing today. Even though I knew we probably would have snow, it was a bit of a disappointment after watching the trees bud and the grass turning green. Snow is the poor man's fertilizer, it's said, so this will probably help at least the grass; I'm not so sure about the budding trees and posies.

I'm going to have some breakfast and then go outside and make a snowman or something. Fred's wondering if he should get out the snowblower . . . I'm for letting it melt.
