We've had high winds and spotty rain all day. Not enough rain to really impact the snow or ice, but with the wind driving it, it seems worse than it is. The temperature has remained in high 30's and low 40's.

Bill Rossi just let us know there is an ice fisherman not far from their house and Bill asked him how thick the ice is. The reply was two feet. He also said he's caught only two fish, and I think he's been out there several hours. One wonders why he'd stay out in this weather if he's not catching anything.

The ice is looking a little dark behind the islands, but I think it's just th
e water on it. There is only one small spot in the channel that has opened, so we have a way to go yet.

We'll have more of the same kind of weather tomorrow, according to forecasts, but a little colder. So far our roads have been good, but they are muddy enough to mess up your car, especially if you drive too fast. Or if you meet a local in a pickup truck on a beer run. And it's not a good time to be walking. So we've been content to stay inside today, which allowed me to clean out some old files and organize my office a little.

Bill and Diane came for a few minutes this afternoon. Diane and I discussed some Ice-Out Contest business over a glass of wine. Perfect rainy day afternoon.

Catching Up
