I've had some requests for information on Cabot's town meeting yesterday. Since I couldn't go, I'm depending on other "reporters" - I may have a report from Will Walters who writes for the Hardwick Gazette, but in the meantime, here is the report from the Times Argus: www.timesargus.com

The following is a brief report on Danville's town meeting. A full report should be posted later today in the Caledonian Record.

DANVILLE — The petition to vote whether Danville should go to Australian ballot was not considered as the language in the article was not correct. It was voted voted down, 143-4 to not consider it. The petitioners vowed to bring the question back next year.

Some money requests failed: The historical society did not get their request for $10,000, and the library did not get $3,000 for an after school project. Both requests were in "special appropriations" and their failure to pass changed the total appropriations figure from $51,936, which also changed the general budget to $545,811.00. An amendment to reduce it further by $70,000 failed.

The $1.44 million highway department budget passed after a failed attempt to reduce it by $20,00.

Officers re-elected were Selectmen Denise Briggs and Doug Pastula, Town Grand Juror Garren Caulkins, Tax Collector John Balckmore, Town Agent and Real Estate Agent E. Tobias Balivet and Auditor Alberta Charron were re-elected. Pamela Vance will replace Elise Burrington as auditor and John Hall was elected to the budget committee replacing Lloyd Patterson, who died in December.

The school budget of $4.94 million, which is 2.75 percent lower than last year, passed. Also passed was a request for

$35,000 for the school lunch program , and another $35,000 for a school bus was voted.
