Our friends, Louise and Elizabeth, took us out to lunch for Fred's birthday. It was snowing lightly when we left home, but seemed to clear as we neared Littleton. Both Louise and Elizabeth particularly like the new "99" restaurant in Littleton. We've been there a few times and enjoy it, and today was no exception. That's Louise with the hat, Fred and Elizabeth in the restaurant.

By the time we'd made the obligatory stop at Walmart (below) there was light snow falling and back at Joe's Pond around 4 p.m. it was downright wintery. Th
ere was a young man sitting in his well snow mired car just past Chatot Road when we started up West Shore Road. We stopped, but he said he'd met a car that crowded him off the road but help was on the way. It may have been he was going a little too fast for the road conditions, too. There was enough of a snow bank so his car probably wasn't damaged, but he'd plowed deep into the bank and it would take a tow truck to get him out. The light, fluffy snow is pretty, but it makes everything under foot very slippery. That corner right by Walker's catches a lot of vehicles every winter.

As we were coming out of St. Johnsbury, the sun was becoming obscured by snow and clouds, and I snapped this picture. By the time we got to Danville, t
he sun was completely covered and there was a fairly heavy snow storm going on. When we passed the fishing access, we noticed several shantys are on the pond near the access area, so ice fishing season has begun. The shantys were probably there before, but we didn't happen to notice them. Also, at the beach area, chef John "Woody" Woods has his caboose parked there and is open for business. I'm not sure what his menu is, but I understand the Sherwoods got some good chili there the other night. He's just off Rt. 15 at the beach near the rail trail.

We had just under 2 inches of new snow yesterday and last night. There may be a little more by tomorrow morning. It did seem good to have it warmer today, in the 20's. We're seeing on TV the result of all the cold weather Florida has been getting - the loss of crops, etc. Sure makes one wonder about this global warming thing. I believe our weather has been pretty ordinary except for the big snow fall in the Burlington area. Right here at Joe's Pond things are simply January-ish.

Another Adventure

This week turned out to be a doozie for me. I had anticipated going for a follow-up on my knee on Monday, but instead ended up in the ER at ...
