This morning George Parizo let us know he'd encountered a suspicious pop-up when visiting one of the links, Vermont Events, listed on our web site. We were away this morning, but as soon as we got home, Fred investigated and removed the link. Fred has contacted that site but hasn't heard anything yet, so we don't know if we'll be able to reconnect with them once they've cleaned off the offending spam or not. We appreciate being alerted when something like that shows up, though.

Today was cooler, but still quite nice. With all the weather going on south of us, we can feel fortunate. We're heading for another wet weekend, though - I don't know how the water level in the pond is right now, but hopefully Green Mountain Power has been able to lower it enough to accommodate the rain that's coming.

Here's a reminder about a program that's coming up at the Cabot library next week. Click to make it larger for reading. Also, there's an interesting event listed on the web site's Comments Page, if you haven't seen it.

Along the way to St. Johnsbury this morning we noticed signs for upcoming Christmas events. There were several announcing Christmas bazaars in Danville and also St. Johnsbury. Those are always interesting to visit. There are local crafts for sale as well as food, trims, toys and trinkets. Shopping there will almost guarantee whatever you buy will be unique, generally home-made, and appreciated as a gift.

Here is another Christmas event many of us look forward to. We both ha
d hair cuts today and Julie, stylist at Colonial Village with Kathy Fenoff, gave us this schedule. Julie sings with the chorus - in fact, I believe she's a soloist. Again, click on the image to make it larger.

I was reading about LED holiday lights recently and wondered about replacing our regular lights at some point. There was an ad about turning in your old lights for $3 off the price of the energy-efficient LED lights. I'm all for saving energy AND money, so I checked to see who's offering the deal, but also wanted to know more about the new lights. I found this site: Lights

There is a lot of information out there, and it looks interesting, but I also found some chatter among users saying they aren't really perfected yet. They do seem to be more expensive, but if they last as long as advertised, the cost would even out. It would be wonderful to be free of the frustration of untangling and testing strings of lights each year to find the loose or burned out bulb, broken connection or whatever. I'd probably still have the untangling. I can never get them back onto those neat cards with all the notches so they'll fit back in the box again. It's akin to folding a road map or re-coiling a long extension cord.

Anyway, I looked at LED's in Aubuchon Hardware, but I didn't find anything I thought was exceptional. Perhaps as the season advances . . .

Here we are, just past Halloween and talking about Christmas already and we haven't even eaten our turkey yet!

Catching Up

As our lovely autumn days begin to turn a bit chill and dreary - the transition from October to November is like that  - I want to share so...
