Herzlich Willkommen auf den Seiten von Tanja Askani..Many thanks, Peter. Now we know about this very talented lady. I wonder if her books are published in English - she sounds like a very interesting person. Perhaps we'll learn more about her as time goes on.

Welcome to the Web site of Tanja Askani.
Born in 1962 in Czechoslovakia, since 1990, this wolf expert, painter and
writer has lived in Germany and worked as a falconer in the Lüneburger Heide
Safari Park. (COMMENT: Lunenburg Heath is an area in northeastern Lower
Saxony, north Germany. It's a tourist destination with many nature preserves
and theme parks.) She became interested in animals, especially wild animals,
while young, and learned to understand and deal with them. In 1998, she
helped to hand rear a polar wolf (described in the book "Unser Wölfin
Flocke") ("Our Wolf Pack"), which became the ancestor of their (the park's)
first wolf pack. Now there are several wolf packs in the Lüneburger Heide
Safari Park.
She describes her experiences and her expertise in raising wolves and her
life as a human among wolves in her second book, published in August 2004,
"Wolf Tracks." The book describes her life and experiences with the wolves
and reveals a wealth of in-depth knowledge and novel and surprising insights
about this fascinating animal, which, so far, are not found in any other
book.

It's always great when I have a nice surprise after posting something to the blog. I just had an e-mail from Peter Dannenberg, who lives in Cabot. He translated the information on Tanja Askani's web site for us. First the German, then below is the translation:
