Today was a really good day to work inside. The sun tried hard a few times to break through the clouds, but at the end of the day, we'd had pretty steady rain, lots of wind, a thunder storm with a little lightning, and a generally dreary, cool, falling leaves kind of day.

I managed to get some of the boxes in my office space cleared away and a few things filed today. I have lots of newspaper clippings to go through yet, some old 35mm slides to scan, many bits of paper with penciled notes I don't want to lose, and an ever-growing list of things to do. I scribble notes on envelopes, sticky notes, adding machine tape - whatever's handy at the moment. It doesn't matter if there's a neat pad of paper near the phone, it's almost as if both Fred and I consciously avoid the obvious in favor of doodling on margins of newspapers, or the day's mail. Consequently, we have learned to look carefully before we throw any paper product away.

We're concerned about our cat, Woody. About two weeks ago we noticed he had a bit of a limp, and then it seemed to go away until yesterday we noticed he was limping more noticeably and today seems to have gotten worse. We'll see if we can get him to his doctor tomorrow. Usually time heals whatever he's gotten himself into, but this seems different. We've tried to examine his paw, but he won't let us touch it. It's almost as if he pulled a muscle or broke something. He still has an appetite, so he can't be feeling too bad.
