The pond color has changed today. We are seeing the ice darken quite a bit in the area behind the islands. I was going to go to the other side of the pond today to see how things are over there, but that will need to wait until tomorrow. In the meantime, I took pictures from our deck of the head of the pond and of the area in back of the islands so you can compare with other photos taken earlier. I think you can see through the trees in the lower right corner of the second picture that there's blue water off the point where the channel comes into the pond, in front of Rachel Lewis's home on Sandy Beach Road. Once around that bend, the ice usually melts more quickly especially if the wind can sort of move it around a bit. Also, where that darkened ice is in this photo is right where those fishermen were just a couple days ago! Looks from here as if it's almost open water.

There's still a stiff breeze today, but the sun isn't as intense as it was yesterday - in fact, it seems to be clouding in and even looks like rain. Perhaps we're getting the rain that's being forecast for tomorrow afternoon a little early. We can sure use it. It's been a while since we've had precipitation - last week, I think, when we had some wet snow, but really not much of that, either. A little rain will start things growing and greening up, and really do a number on the ice that's left!

I received the following today from Matt Randall, (637 W.Shore Rd. and Lyndon State College):

Here is the poster for the musical at LSC. It is next weekend (April 23, 24, and 25) and is a 1950's Elvis inspired musical featuring 27 Elvis hit songs, and it's also based on Shakespeare's Twelfth Night.

The American Cancer Society
Relay For Life

This year, hundreds of thousands of people will hear the words "You have cancer," and there's a good chance that some of them will be people we know and love. We have all been touched by cancer in some way ... and we all have the power to make a difference. That's why I have chosen to fight back right here in my own community by participating in the American Cancer Society Relay For Life®.

I want to invite you to join me in the fight against cancer by making a donation in support of my efforts. Further down in this message is a link to my personal Relay For Life® Web page where you can make a safe online contribution. Your donation helps improve the lives of cancer patients through support services such as free wigs, rides to treatment, and summer camp for children with cancer. You can also sign up to join my team and learn more about Relay and how it's changing lives.

Relay For Life® brings more than 3.5 million people from across the country together each year to celebrate the lives of those who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against a disease that takes too much. This fun-filled, overnight event empowers everyone to help fight cancer by raising money and awareness to support the American Cancer Society's lifesaving mission.

Thank you in advance for your support. Together, we will celebrate, remember, and fight back.

Another Adventure

This week turned out to be a doozie for me. I had anticipated going for a follow-up on my knee on Monday, but instead ended up in the ER at ...
