I had this report about young Zach Porter from Evelyn Richer this morning:

The update on Zachary Porter is that he is home this time for good, but he still has to return twice weekly to have his blood and platelet levels tested… and for now he needs transfusions until things are regulated on their own… this means many trips to Burlington for them, I feel so sorry for them having to travel over the winter like that… but they are so happy to be on the other side of the chemo… and I don’t blame them… Zach is a real trooper and so are his parents… the word is that Zach loves to shovel snow!! And Steph isn’t bursting that bubble!

Now I have to get back out in the kitchen to frost Fred's birthday caked for tomorrow. I imagine he'll try it tonight, actually. It's chocolate with fluffy white frosting - special order - with no decorations. As I was beating it up I was thinking about the wedding cake and that it was fun because I'd never done one before, but it was nice to just "bake a cake" with no frills. Fred is recycling at Hardwick today, and he will probably stop at Louise's long enough to be sure she can get to the blog to see the slide show of the wedding.

The storm is just steady fine snow so far, and the temperature is still pretty much locked in at 20 degrees. The rest of the week is going to be pretty much the same, according to the forecast. So far this winter we've had pretty typical weather, not like last year when we didn't get much snow at all until January.

Whatever you're up to today, be safe, enjoy, and hug somebody.
