We thought you might like to see what this Fourth of July weekend was like here at Joe's Pond. Because the fireworks were rained out on July 3rd, we had those Saturday night. But there were things to do over the weekend, like going to recycle in Danville before the Joe's Pond Association Meeting at 10 a.m. Fred took a lot of pictures of the meeting, and then we stopped at our camp on the way home. Ned Hamilton, next door, took off in his plane - pictures of that. We watched the fireworks Saturday night from our house, some of the family gathered at camp with guests. We all thought the fireworks were better than ever and apparently the new location for shooting them from worked very well.
This morning we went back down to camp to wish son, Bob, Happy Birthday (tomorrow), and while there another seaplane came from out behind the trees at the fishing access, rolled down the ramp and took off, neat as you please. We don't know when the plane parked there, or for what purpose - someone suggested it was just a "pit stop" at the convenient portolet there - but it was fun watching this bigger, different style plane than Ned's taxi up the lake and then take off, flying directly over us.
As we left, about noon, to go home, we spotted the state police boat talking to some people in a small boat about in front of Drown's camp on W. Shore Road. It's good to know they are out there on a busy weekend like this. We had reports it was a zoo on the water Saturday evening, with boats seemingly everywhere on the pond and near misses, but I guess everyone had fun and even a few thrills, and the good news is that nobody got hurt.
It's quieter out there today. The sun has been beautiful, it's not too hat, and there's been a nice sailing breeze all day. What more could we ask!
Here are some pictures we took of the weekend (not fireworks, but the JPA Annual Meeting, the planes, and other stuff! )
