Another Spring Day!

We've enjoyed milder weather again today. The snow pack has really taken a hit and things around our yard like trees and shrubs that we haven't seen since December are finally poking through the snow. The snow is pulling away from the trunks of larger trees and also away from our house - always a good sign. I think our cat, Woody, can walk almost all the way around the house on bare ground. There are a couple of spots where the snow was shoveled off the roof that are still banked against the house, but he's enjoying what there is, and waits patiently for some unsuspecting mouse or mole to poke its nose out of the snow or softening ground.

Of course, our roads are softening, as well. We didn't go out with the car today, and we didn't walk. We've both been busy with computer stuff. Fred is working on complicated technical stuff for the web site, and I was tracking down information based on a tip from Homer Fitts. Homer, as an abutting land owner, received a notice from the State of Vermont about a project by a local Boy Scout troop to put a ramp at the fishing access to make it easier for handicapped people to board boats or fish. I found out from the folks at Vermont Fish and Wildlife that the project has been permitted. I'll have more details later on as to exact location and when the project will begin. With any luck, we'll have some pictures for you, too!

I really hate to mention it, but
according to tonights weather forecast, we're likely to get some snow this weekend . . . so you're saying, "What else is new," right? Pretty typical March weather in April. We may grumble a bit, but I bet the sugarmakers are happy! And it may ease the mud situation - or prolong the agony. It's like the ice going out - nobody really knows what's going to happen.

By the way, yesterday I picked up more tickets to enter in the contest. They had been sent from New Mexico by "priority mail" and postmarked April 1. I think there's a lesson there. We're not surprised there are still a few trickling in. We'll have a count for you in a while. Chico is still working on them.
