Ahoy, Sailors - Final Sunfish Races coming up on Sunday, August 20.  We hope you'll be there, races begin at 1 p.m. and if it rains, race is postponed until August 27.  Don't forget - there's an After Party at the Smith's, North Shore Road, with awards and fun for all participants after the race is finished.  Contact Susan Bouchard if you have questions - chatotbouchard@comcast.net.

We also want to remind you that Sunday, August 20, is the last day you can purchase raffle tickets that benefit the Charles E. Brainerd public library in West Danville.   You can print your tickets on line if you haven't had a chance to get to one of the people/places that have tickets.  The Raffle Page shows you each item you can bid on and you can choose one or more items, fill out your tickets on line, print and leave them at Hastings Store or with any of the library committee - Pam Hebert, Mary Anne Cassani, Joanne Stewert or Karen Morris.  Proceeds of the raffle will help keep the mini library operating.  It was a huge success this year, and certainly worth all the effort that committee and their spouses put into saving it.  We hope you will support it by joining the raffle - or send a donation to any one of the volunteers.  The support of the community has been wonderful and is very appreciated.  Raffle Drawing is scheduled for Aug. 26 at the Joe's Pond Beach Pavilion.

Joe's Pond members, don't forget the final meeting of the Joe's Pond Association at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 26th.  We all feel sorry the summer season is coming to an end - it seems as if it was just last week we were welcoming our Ice-Out Contest winner, Emily Wiggett.  The weather has been strange at best, and seems to me summer never really got started.  Nearly everyone I've talked to agrees it's been a strange summer.  Aren't we all wondering now what winter will be like?
